To answer it, I study examples from contemporary Poland, positioned against the Law and Justice (PiS) party. Specifically, I performed: (1) multimodal critical discourse analysis of anti-PiS protest songs selected from a database I compiled myself, (2) participant observation at 13 protests in 2023 (with a supplementary analysis of four online streams from older protests), (3) qualitative interviews with 10 artists and protesters, and (4) media discourse analysis of pro-PiS responses to the protests. Included in this dataset are: (1) the database of 100 protest songs against PiS, (2) field notes from participant observation, (3) qualitative interview transcripts, (4) codebook and document manager exports from ATLAS.ti, (5) a read-me file explaining the research method, (6) ethics board
